CHAGGA HISTORICAL HIKE - Uru Cultural Tourism PDF Print Email

The Chaga Historical Hike SafariThis magnificent and interactive historical hike will have you experience the rich history of the Chagga people. You will visit a traditional Chagga home to learn more about their lifestyle.

A well knowledgeable and experienced local coffee farmer will guide you and inform you how the Chagga community and their cattle were living in the past. Another energetic experience will be to explore the mysterious Chagga caves and long tunnels. These tunnels are a few kilometers long, with many secret chambers in it which the Chagga people and their cattle used as hiding places during tribal wars.

In addition to that you have the option to take a unique excursion that will take you through the rich agricultural forest and a knowledgeable guide will teach you forestry practices at the border of Mount Kilimanjaro. Later, you will visit a Women group to see and interact with them to learn how they make their Clay Pots. This energetic hike will take 2 – 3 hours.

 

DETAILED ITINERARY

Duration: - 2 Days/ 1 Night

Day 1: Chagga Village
Depart for Chagga Village and upon arrival you will be met and given an orientation or briefing by the local guide. Start coffee tour with the native guide. Later returning to Kahawa shamba Camp Site for dinner and overnight

Day 2: Chagga Village
After Breakfast go for a Chagga historical hike where as you will practically explore historical caves, huts and routes. Returning to your campsite at 11am for early hot lunch and transfer for self onward program.

Or

Day 2: Mt. Kilimanjaro
After an early morning breakfast depart for a nature excursion to the border of Mt. Kilimanjaro’s protected forest. (Almost 2000km above sea level) returning to your campsite at 11am for early hot lunch and transfer for self onward program.
